20 November 2009

By a vote of 74 to 48, the UN Third Committee – a committee of the whole of the General Assembly – approved a strongly worded resolution expressing deep concern over serious ongoing human rights violations in the Islamic Republic of Iran. The resolution specifically mentions discrimination against Baha’is as well as concern over the treatment of “Arabs, Azeris, Baluchis, Kurds, Christians, Jews, Sufis and Sunni Muslims, and their defenders.”
