On 11 January, the U.S. Department of State published a statement strongly condemning the Iranian government’s decision to proceed with the espionage trial of the seven Baha’i leaders. “These persons are entitled to due process,” the statement said. “The right to a fair and public hearing is embodied in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.”
